As
a mom I get to watch cartoons quite a bit with my babies. Some I enjoy more
than others, some movies convince them they want to see so I can watch them. =) One of the movies I
had the privilege of watching was How to Train Your Dragon. Hiccup a young Viking, seeking the approval of
his father wants to prove himself as a dragon slayer by catching and killing
the most elusive of all dragons a night fury. Unfortunately he was not able to
kill him after looking in his eyes. He decides to befriend him , along the way
he discovers the secret of the dragons raids. It's funny, sweet and I loved it
and the 2nd one!!

A Classic Upbringing
My parents were very conservative and monitored and limited what I was allowed to watch as a child. We had limited cable and the movies we watched were the classics ,Seven Brides for Seven Brothers , The Sound of Music, Pollyana, and The Parent Trap were among our favorites. They were of a different time more innocent. We watched these classics and more over and over. As a result today I still love musicals and music theater. I am currently attempting to find them on DVD to a pass on a love for the classics to my own children.
The First Movie I saw in the theater...
The
Land Before Time released in 1988, it was to be my 1st trip to the movie theater.
Little did I know it would also be the first time a movie made me cry. In the
opening credits a baby dinosaur is born a "long-neck" who is named
Little-foot. His mother dies protecting him from Sharp Tooth (T-Rex) and
with her last breath tells him to find The Great Valley. (Insert me crying
here.) So he sets out to find it and finds some friends along the way. The unlike group of friends becomes a little
family as they go through trials and struggles finding their way to The Great
Valley.

Powder ..
Powder, is an amazing movie!! Powder
released in 1995 is the story of an albino teenager who was found living in a basement
after his grandparents passed away. He had never been off his family's farm only experiencing
life through books. He has to be placed
in a boys home, he struggles to fit in and faces many trails for being
different. He has some amazing abilities
that he uses to touch the lives of others. This movie is one that you can watch
over and over and still cry every time. One
of my favorite quotes from the movie is "When I look at you , I have have hope that maybe one day our humanity will surpass our technology."
The Best Movie for- "Ever After"
The movie "Ever After", is a Cinderella story with
a twist. Danielle played by Drew
Barrymore, as in the traditional story
an orphan who after her beloved father dies is raised be a mean stepmother . Unlike traditional Cinderella stories
where Cinderella was portrayed as meek and passive, Danielle is
fiery, intelligent and not afraid to state her
opinion. In the traditional story the Prince falls for Cinderella a immediately
after seeing her, at the ball after once dance. In this story Danielle meets
the Prince while he is trying to "borrow" a horse from her land , not immediately recognizing him she starts pelting him with apples. Then she see's him again while standing up for
her servant who had been traded for debt to the crown, by her stepmother. She
challenges him to look outside of himself and consider the plight of the men.
From this conversation a spark is lit between
them and through out the story they fall in love through conversation and genuinely
getting to know each other. I love the
strength and the intelligence of Danielle and the different take on the Cinderella story.
